Going Sober

The last few months have been hectic and I will explain all at a later date.

For the time being however, I am Going Sober in October to raise money for Macmillian Cancer Research.

And to help me to return to blogging, I have decided to track my journey here, because I almost failed today…

Go Sober – Day 1

No money donated yet, but it’s still early days. Almost failed the challenge before it had barely even started. On the way home from work I thought to myself, “Nobody will be at home, maybe I should go for a couple of pints at the pub.” I walked halfway there when I got an email from the Go Sober site about the first day. I felt incredibly foolish. How had I forgotten so quickly…

The situation may get worse as I have a friends and my partners birthdays coming up. We’ll see how this goes.

Keeping Busy While Waiting For Employment…

Officially I have a job, but I’m still waiting on a start date. My CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check has come through so all I’m waiting for is an appointment with Occupational Health. So while I’ve been waiting, I’ve been working on a certain site and have been putting way too much effort into it. It’s lead me into an over the top in depth look at military ranks, awards and decorations. It also means I’ve been creating fictional posts and awards for people involved in the site.

Admiral Mike Lewis

And here is also an imaginary ribbon bar of the various awards I would have liked to have given myself, but have scaled back for the site.

Did you know that there was also a pennant called the Gin Pennant which was flown to invite officers from ships in company to drinks.

Amazing huh?

So Far So Good…

It seems I have kept true to my New Years Resolution of blogging more in 2013 and have steadily been posting posts. I haven’t been posting as much as I thought I was going to, but that is because I’ve been tying up all my efforts in another project with a friend of mine. Very soon we will be launching said project unto the world for all to see and hear. I’m very excited as I’ve put in a lot of time and effort in and it seems to be paying off.

Some of you may have an inkling of what I’m talking about and this project (under the leadership of an idiot) has taken several years to get to the stage it is at now. The only reason it’s progressed so far is thanks to the fact I took over from said leader and did most of the work myself.

I don’t have an exact date as to when things will be ready, but I’m incredibly hopeful that it will very, very, VERY soon. So, as ever, watch this space!

Happy Valentines Day!?

I know Valentines Day is almost two weeks away, but unfortunately my Valentines present from the boyfriend arrived yesterday. I didn’t really know what it was and opened it. So, it our crazy minds it just made more sense to celebrate Valentines Day earlier. All I had to give the boyfriend was a card which read inside: “You still do it for me!” (The only reason I bought it!!) and the box set of the I.T. Crowd. His present to me was a selection of award-winning British ales. I’m so excited!! Now I am going to list the ales/beers/stouts:

I’m Struggling

I’m struggling with things to write here, mainly due to the fact my life has become a little stagnate. Still jobless, I do have job interviews coming up, but this has left me a bit penniless…

…and with nothing to do.

I think I may do another one of these things to pass the time… I’ll see how I feel tomorrow…

Have You Ever?

No, I’m not talking about the drinking game.

But, have you ever met your best friend to go to the cinema and ended up going everywhere but?

We ended up in Buckingham Palace watching the changing of the guard…

Then we headed to St. Stephens Tavern for a cheeky pint before lunch. The view is pretty good.

Then it was for lunch. Pizza Express in the Strand seemed the perfect place to get pizza and wine!

Afterwards we took a trip to the National Portrait Gallery. Unfortunately, I was too tired to go on and left my mate in London, while I headed home to sleep. Does anyone else have random days like this?

Happy New Year!

It’s been a bit of a crazy start to the new year for me, but I’m confident as ever that this is my YEAR!!

It started with the usual drunken New Years celebrations and a job application to be a Funeral Director. That’s right, A Funeral Director. Unfortunately I wasn’t selected for an interview (Not sure if that is a good or bad outcome), but I did get a job interview for a hospital that is 2 hours journey from me. I’m really hoping to get this job, so please wish me luck.

I’m still writing away. This includes the story I started for NaNoWriMo. I’ve also started work on a little side project. It’s mainly an animation series about a group of British superheroes mixed with comical elements. We’ll see how it pans out.

I also hope to writing more poetry this year. I had a major lull in my poetry due to my confinement of one area. I normally write best when on long journeys or on long walks. Getting this job will help that.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good year and we’ll see how it goes!
