I know, it’s an odd subject to hit upon, but I honestly believe you need to prepare for these things. That’s why I am starting at number 10. Each couple of days or so, I will continue to countdown from 10 to 1. I will also be posting the poor suggestions I though up or recieved from Siobhan and Julian. So here begins:
10. Muse - Starlight Click here to see the video for Starlight
Being a big, juicy Muse fan, I simply had to have a Muse song in my selection. Starlight is a great song to use with lyrics like, “Far away, this ship is taking me far away, far away from the memories of the people who care if I live or die.” In a way, it is how I would like to imagine death, one long cruise. It’s quite slow and thought provoking, like most Muse songs, but with the most suited lyrics, making it the number 1 Muse candidate for my funeral. It only ranked number 10 because it is not very death related and contains lyrics like, “Black holes and revelations… I just wanted to hold you in my arms.” It might be more appropriate if I was killed chasing after a lover across a road, but in all othe circumstances it is not applicable.
Worst Suggestion
1. Queen - Another Bites the Dust A Julian suggestion
It is such an awful and inappropiate song for a funeral. Obviously it could only be the lyrics that I could hate with such a passion. This song makes the deceased sound like just another nobody that died in some incident in some country millions of miles away. If played at my funeral, be rest assured I will not see the funny side and will hunt you down!

If you’re being cremated; “c’mon baby light my fire”?
Comment by HannaH 29 June, 2008 @ 2:21 pmOr perhaps “Graceland” by Paul Simon?
Oh, and by the way; I hope you’re not actually planning on dying any time soon, I want you around as long as possible, alright?
Am I the only one that finds this post a bit morbid, I mean, not just the one song, but ten??? Wow Mike, I hope you’re not planning to leave us with ALL of them at your funeral, I might just turn up to the reception instead!
Comment by Harry 1 July, 2008 @ 12:30 pmHey hey hey! Just to let you know that Starlight was also a suggestion by me! So don’t just accredit me for the crappiest suggestion. Pft. And with a top ten songs list, does that mean you’re planning on having 10 funerals? Is it going to be something like a “Mike’s World Funeral Tour” - with a different song playing at each one?
