A Quick Update Before I Dash Off To Ireland

Filed under: Card Factory, Family, Holiday, Life, Lists, The Peoples Lab, Updates — themiget @ 12:40 pm

1. Tina, the horrible assistant manager has handed in her notice. Hip Hip Hooray!

2. I was convinced to stay for a second time, this time by the actual Area Manager.

<– Sign up and stop Uwe Boll!

3. Tina is leaving because Allie, myself and Kisrty were asked to write statements on the goings on in Card Factory. Allie went first with 1 1/2 pages. I got 3 pages and Kirsty wrote 5 whole pages.

4. Julian WILL be working on the The People’s Lab site while I’m away.

5. The new video podcast for the The People’s Lab is almost completed. It just needs afew tweaks and a full day of editing done to it. As Siobhan says, “Julian lacks direction and you are too busy playing Pokemon”. (Note: the Pokemon game is Julian’s)

6. My back pain mysteriously disappeared. That doesn’t mean I’m not waiting for a massage (HannaH)

7. Siobhan and I trashed Julian’s house for a laugh seeing as his mum is away for 3 weeks. I just threw stuff on the floor, while Siobhan put nuts on the fireplace, tissues in the oven, bananas on his door knob and a card from his teacher under his pillow. All that to find his birthday card from Byron. We never did find it.

8. “Boring people find other boring people, not boring!” Siobhan Dhak

9. Last but not least, I am off to Ireland for a week. Not sure if I will be able to post while I am there, but we’ll see.

Staines, Back Ache and, Oh yeah, Julian’s Birthday…

… was a great laugh. Especially the bit where I bought him a Wii game for his imaginary Wii. I even forgot to buy him a card yet I work in a CARD SHOP!!!

Staines

Let’s see… The other day all the workers were having a bad day and were dropping things. The assistant manager Owen managed to drop and smash 4 items in total. In 2nd place was me with 2 items. One of which was a plaque that decided to fall through the box and smash right next to the Staines manager. 3rd place was the 3rd key with only 1 item. It’s so fun smashing things up.

My Bleeding Back

I’ve been having soo much trouble with my back for awhile. My mum has only just started taking me seriously as I have requested to see the doctor and she knows I HATE DOCTORS. Even though the doctor I go to is a really nice person, he always sends me for a friggin’ blood test because, “A young, healthy boy of 19 should not sleep so much…” It was awful at Julian’s birthday DRINK (no ’s’, it was only one drink, for everyone else). I had to be carried to the pub by my girlfriend. I was going to let a pain in the back get the better of me, although it turned out there was more than just one at Julian’s party :) .

The People’s Lab

Ask Julian about that progress…

I Have My Whole Two Weeks Already Planned For Me (Except For One or Two Gaps)

So, I’ve been working like a dog, mostly in Staines now seeing as I haven’t spoken to the assistant manager of Hounslow for almost a month now. The Staines Card Factory is a neater shop with neater customers, but I find it is too neat and I’m often left with nothing to do.

Anywho… I am busy like a bee collecting honey just for me
” When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few”

Sorry, got carried away. I will try to post as often as I can about this busy two weeks including “Taking Siobhan to meet my family at bbq”, “The week the assistant manager is away”, “Julian’s birthday” and “Progress concerning The People’s Lab and it’s progress”.

*Before anyone asks, Yes I am abit drunk.

1. Don’t worry, this didn’t turn into a full time politics blog although it seems I influenced four people including my mum to vote Lib Dem, yet I didn’t.

2. The People’s Lab is coming back for good. Julian has alot of time on his hands and he has promised to get it up and running… We already made a BRAND SPANKING NEW video podcast in the delightful location of Richmond Park.

Democratic Elections Failed By Democracy!

A very brief report from the BBC has shed light on some “irregularities” concerning the London Assembly elections and the Mayoral elections. It stated:

An inquiry has been launched after polling station staff reportedly spoilt ballot papers by writing voting card numbers on ballot papers. A spokesman for London Elects, the body running the poll in the capital, said it was investigating an “isolated incident” in Lambeth, south London, after polling clerks wrote on 10 people’s ballot papers. Marks other than a voter’s cross invalidates ballot papers. The spokesman told the BBC: “We have confirmed that at one polling station in Lambeth, polling station staff wrote what is thought be the polling card numbers on the ballot paper. We took instant action and will find out why the staff made this mistake and we shall take it from there. As far as we are aware this is an isolated incident.” Lord Oakeshott of Seagrove Bay, a Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman, fears that his vote was invalidated when he voted in Lambeth. He said: “I had to point out to the presiding officer at my polling station that they should not write our poll numbers on our ballot papers… My vote will not be secret along with about 20 others. Lambeth must brief its poll staff better to protect democracy.”

The BBC reported a similar incident at a polling station in Croydon, south London.

Think of London’s Future

First I saw the mayoral results for the first perference votes and my heart skipped a beat as I realised that Londoners were just as bad as the citizens who voted Bush into the White House. The Clown led with 43%, Ken trailed with 37% and Brian left out with just 10%. Then a portly man stepped up to the podium and announced the number of votes to each candidate in the order they appeared on the ballot paper:

1 Step Forward 200 Steps Back!

Filed under: British, Elections, Life, Lists, News, Politics — themiget @ 10:21 pm

Bad news! Worst news! Looks like Boris will win it, but I’m still hoping for a miracle. Tories have stolen council elections across the country with the Liberal Democrats gaining a couple of councils. Some expected, some not. It ended:

Conservative 65 councils
Labour 18 councils
Lib Dem 12 councils
and 64 Hung councils

Tories gaining 12 councils such as Nuneaton & Bedworth from Labour and West Lindsey sadly from the Lib Dem’s. Tory lost Colchester to a hung council sharing most of the votes with the Lib Dem’s. Labour gained Durham and Slough but had huge losses leading to an overall loss of 9 councils.  Lib Dem’s had a huge predicted gain in St. Albans, Kingston-Upon-Hull, Burnley and Sheffield but lost just as many councils overall gaining only 1 council overall. Gwynedd went to no overall control loosing Plaid Cymru it’s only council.

The Councillor elections showed a better success for the Lib Dems.

Tories gained 256 seats giving them a total of 3154 seats
Labour lost 331 seats giving them a total of 2368 seats
Lib Dems gained 34 seats giving them a total of 1805 seats

Plaid Cymru gained 33 seats giving them a total of 207 seats
Greens gained 5 seats giving them a total of 47 seats
Residents Association lost 11 seats giving them a total of 43 seats
British National Party gained 10 seats giving them a total of 37 seats
Liberal lost 2 seats giving them a total of 20 seats
Independent Kidderminster Hospital and Health Concern (new party) won a total of 10 seats
UK Independence Party gained 3 seats giving a total of 8 seats
Respect gained 1 seat giving a total of 4 seats
Socialist Alternative kept their 2 seats
with…
Others getting 711 seats.
