Firstly, I’m back.
Secondly, The holiday was great, well needed and quite shocking. I’d rather not go into the details though.
Thirdly, Does anyone else feel that U.S.A is again, using media to put pressure on other countries to react to North Korea’s rule-breaking. It seems (only) US media is claiming that North Korea are setting up for another test. I argue that North Korea is not that stupid. It realises the controversy it has caused already and would not dream to have the superpowers of the world invading their advancing and growing country. North Korea has also just released a statement regarding South Korea taking part in any sanctions posed upon North Korea as a sanction of their first test. That does not sound like a country planning a second test, does it?
The U.S.A’s idea, as it has always been (Iraq), is to use the media’s extreme power and influence to put false idea’s and pressure across to other countries. I find this a sickening use of the media. The media are too busy to be the first to know to check or even question credibility.
Luckily none of the neighbouring countries to North Korea have caved in to this “false advertising”. While the US reported the test as a “provocative act”, China denouced it as “brazen”.
I’m not suggesting that North Korea should be allowed to get away with it’s constant breaking of universal laws, but I do not want to see a fully fledged, American driven nuclear war. This seems to be only way America thinks a situation should be handled. When someone has done something wrong (or not) the consquencing result shall always be war.
But the Chinese government fears a war or any kind of sanctions placed on North Korea will force refugees to flood over the border into China. Something the Chinese do not want even though they are (or used to be) great allies with North Korea.
As for North Korea’s threat of war against the South Korea if it takes any part in the imposing sanctions (which look highly likely), I say this is merely a bluff of this now highly threatened country. I must admit that I hate the fact that they feel like they can change UN decisions through threats (taking advice from US?) and feel that the South should take part in any sanctions to not only show the bluff to be true, but to teach North Korea that their threats mean nothing to the superpowers of the modern world.
Now thinking about it, America parallels North Korea. Both are lead by dictators, both believe they can bully the world to get what they want and both see war as a solution.
Phew! Glad I got that off my chest.
